Our History
Grace and Arthur DeGraffenreid
Grace and Arthur DeGraffenreid began baking pies in Oklahoma City in 1927.

They opened "Mrs. DeGraffenreid's Pies" in a modest shop with one showcase and a single delivery truck. Grace and her husband lived in the back of the bakery and often worked 18 hour days. Word of the quality of their pies spread quickly and the bakery grew to five delivery trucks, thirteen full time and two part time employees.

Even after her husband's death in 1941, Grace continued to operate the bakery for many years. In addition to running the bakery, she raised two sons, Paul and Norman, put them both through college and was active in the local community. Grace DeGraffenreid, who passed away in 1992, is still remembered fondly in Oklahoma City for her delicious pies and her contributions to the community.
